FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Common Questions
Can Psychotherapy help me? Although it is difficult to guarantee, psychotherapy helps many people every year. It is an active, collaborative relationship in which a skilled therapist and a client work together to improve the client’s life in a safe, supportive, and confidential environment. What should I expect during the first psychotherapy session? The first session is usually devoted to getting to know you and gaining knowledge of the problems that you are experiencing. I will be gathering information about your background, your symptoms, your strengths and other relevant information. I will be trying to determine whether or not I can be of help to you! If we make the mutual decision to work together, we will collaborate in subsequent sessions to develop a treatment plan. What benefits can I expect from working with a therapist? Therapy can provide insight and new perspectives into life's challenges and can help build solutions to difficult problems. Many people find that working with a therapist can enhance personal development, improve relationships and family dynamics, and ease the challenges of daily life. Do you accept insurance? I am on many insurance panels. Please check with your insurance company to determine your mental health benefits and co-payment if there is one. We will be happy to assist you by billing your insurance company for you. Is therapy confidential? In most cases, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and a psychotherapist. |
